The Starline Rhythm Boys staan net als the Dixons ( zie cd review "Still Your Fool"), Arty Hill & the Long Gone Daddy's, Preacher Jack, Nate Gibson & the Gashouse Gang en the Twilight Rachers op de loonlijst van Cow Island Music, een klein maar zeer interessante independent Record Label for American Music.

The Starline Rhythm Boys zijn ongetwijfeld Vermont's finest honky - tonkin', rockin' billy band en kozen bewust voor Charlie - O's  World Famous, one of the last real honky - tonks in Vermont, om zomaar eventjes 23 songs in te blikken voor hun live -album. The slogan for the place is "Good Spirits and Bad Company Since the War Between the States" en uiteraard a great choice to cut a honky - tonk album.

Ditmaal geen 'two dollars in the jukebox and a dime in the time' maar behoorlijk wat tijd voor a relentlessly grooving Telecaster, grabbing harmonies, the downbeat and the backbeat slapping from the upright bass and a bunch of the lead vocals along the way. Ondermeer Merle Haggard's  "I'm A Lonesome Fugitive" , Johnny Paycheck's " Heartbreak Tennessee", Faron Foung's  "Wine Me Up", Steve Young's (!) "Lonesome, Onry and Mean", Freddie Hart's " Drink up And Go Home" ," An empty botlle, a broken heart and you're still on my mind" (Luke Mc Daniel) en "One Foot In the Honky Tonk ( Mike Henderson - leeft die man nog - Kevin Welch) maken deel uit van dit grandioos
one hour and fourteen minutes of pure, unadulterated hard - core honky tonk feestje. It's all right there ...tearjerkers, the crowd workers, tales of the new fools on the old stools en een portie rockabilly die met "Live Begins at 4 O' Clock" , Moon Mullican's "Pipeliner Blues", P. Clayton's "Gotta Travel On", "Too Much Fun" (William Kirchen) en Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me" getuigen van een prima songkeuze. The Starline Rhythm Boys .....turn up your player, have a cold one and enjoy !! (SWA)
